Kim Jong Woon

Kim Jong Woon (김종운) was born in Seoul, on August, 24th in 1984.  He passed his childhood, about ten years, in Seoul and his teen in Choenan due to his family removal. He loves music that he spent his Middle School’s break time to saving money and buying mini-radio. Then, he had had to accept it when his Mother broke it because it led his rank in school decreased. Once in middle school, he sang a song to show off to a girl he
liked. He admitted that it was his first love that made him known as a good singer among his teachers and friends. Since then, teacher often asked him to sing in front of people. It was his first time to know and show what he can do well, singing. Those are according to him when he with Kyuhyun and Sungmin were invited to a broadcasting radio. if i'm not wrong on Cul2 radio show.
In 1999, he joined a broadcast competition and won gold at the Choenan Singing Competition. Afterward, his beloved mother signed him up to audition for SM Entertainment’s starlight Casting System. He succeeded to impress the judges with his artistic voice and signed as trainee under SM Entertainment that same year.

Days of trainee were a full-pressure time for him. Not knowing his debut time made him desperate of being a musician. It was February or March in 2003 He told his management that he would get enlisted to military service. On the way home on the express bus , DBSK, his trainee friends who has debuted, called him and told him that they were having a concert in Choenan. It was his younger brother, Kim Jong Jin, who called him by phone and asked him why he wasn’t in Seoul. Jong Jin said that he was right behind him with their mother and father. Jong Jin told him to look behind. Then he saw his mother and father were both shed tears.  They were heart broke to see his son’s trainee friends were having a concert on the stage while their son was watching them from audience. After saw his parents’ tears, he got courage that he still want to thank them for. “Had I not seen my mother and father pain like that, I wouldn’t be here today (as musician)” He said on a music program Immortal Song 2.
Kim Jong Woon officially debut as part of 12-member project group Super Junior 05 on 6 November 2005 on SBS’s Popular Song music program. Their debut album Twins was released a month later on 5 December 2005. In March 2006, SM Entertainment began to recruit new members for the next super junior generation. This action got opposition by Super Junior’s fans, called Everlasting Friends ELFs. Just then, SM Entertainment changed Super Junior 05 became Super Junior as an official credited name by added Cho Kyu Hyun as the thirteenth member.
Thought his group becomes more popular each day, Kim Jong Woon who is given stage name Yesung, still got not much attention. It was because the group has the largest number of members along the boys group in Korea. Yesung, who has no confidence stressed out again. He also scolded by his management that he had has the smallest number of fans among the other members. he admitted it on Happy Day program and Leeteuk said that's right.

From September 2006 to September 2007, Yesung Hosts a radio program, M.I.R.A.C.L.E for You, where members of Super Junior often appeared as guests. The last air date the radio program was 8 September 2007. He left because he had have to concentrate on Super Junior’s second album Don’t Don. Beforehand, in November 2006, Yesung along with members Ryeowook and Kyuhyun formed Super Junior’s first subgroup. It is Called Super Junior K.R.Y., which specializing in R&B Ballads.

In 2007 Yesung became a member of Super Junior-H. He debuted as an actor on 26 July 2007 with the release of Attack on The Pin-Up Boys, a high school comedy which starring fellow Super Junior members. He played the school’s rock star who gets attacked by a mysterious force.
Yesung had has done a collaboration with Yurisangja’s Lee Sejun to release a CCM (Contemporary Christian Music) song titled “The Most Precious Story in the World” in a project album called “July Project”. It was released on 5 October 2009. 




He got more attentions after contributed to the OST of television drama Cinderella‘s stepsister titled It Has To Be You. He has been admitted as a singer who has a powerful husky voice and great interpretation through his singing skill. Cinderella's Stepsister Ost - It Has To Be You
Because of the popularity of the song, he often appeared on television programs and took a role on two Musical dramas, “Hong Gil Dong” and “Spamalot”.





 In July 2010, Yesung appeared with band mate Leeteuk as MC’s for MBC’s Love Pursuer. His next OST project Loving You was with his junior, Luna f(x). It’s a song for drama President.
On 31 January 2011, his third solo song for drama Paradise Ranch titled “Waiting For You” was released. He performed it for the first time at the K.R.Y. Concert in Seoul on 11 February. Yesung temporarily replaced band mate Eunhyuk as DJ partnering with Leeteuk on Super Junior Kiss The Radio from February to June 2011. He won in the third episode of a music competition Immortal Song 2 when he sang Boohwal’s song The More I love. On this program he is known as an experienced singer among the other competitors that are younger than him.
He said that he wanted people to know about a person who can and trying to sing better among Super Junior members. Though their group is known for the dancing performance on the stage. even there are many member, he would relief if people know about member who sing very well in Super Junior.  he said this in the third episode.


On 11 November 2012, Yesung and his brother Kim Jong Jin had officially opened their café named Mouse Rabbit Coffee and a shop Why Style later after their franchise Babtols and Handel & Gretel.


Yesung has another OST project such as “I’m Behind You” with Jang Hye Jin in 2011, “For One Day” for Warrior Baek Dong Soo on July 2011, “Blind for You” and “She Over Flowers” in 2012. He and K.R.Y.’s members held concert in Japan on 2012 and Nanjing on 2011. Two last projects that he joined before enlisted for mandatory military service were “Promise You” with Ryeowook and Kyuhyun and “Gray Paper” for drama That Winter, The Wind Blows. He performed at Super Show 5 in Seoul where he announced his enlistment. He officially enlisted on May, 6 2013 for at least two years.
